Fluctus

It rises. It falls. It returns.

In Latin, “fluctus” means “wave”: water that never stands still, rising and falling in a continuous rhythm, without beginning or end. A movement as old as the world itself, renewing itself at every moment.

Created for Chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo’s home, overlooking Lake Orta, the Fluctus lamp from Désian’s LAQUA collection transforms this movement into architecture. Six vertical columns converge in a circle on a circular base, like a single mass of water rising in a compact formation. At the top, each column opens out in a soft, sudden curve, like a wave arching just before it breaks.

From those openings, light flows along the contours, from top to bottom, casting a play of light and shadow on the walls that changes with every glance. The pure white of the structure absorbs the warmth of the light and reflects it back subtly, in harmony with the wood, the windows, and the lake that stretches out beyond.

Fluctus does not emit a steady light: it pulses.

It’s a presence that gives rhythm to the space, like water lapping steadily against the shore. The light of the days that pass in the home, of habits that repeat themselves and, precisely for this reason, become precious.

Fluctus is more than just a lamp: it is the movement of water transformed into sculpture, a column of light that accompanies family life. An icon destined to stand the test of time.
