Nimbus

Light. Airy. Enveloping.

In Latin, “Nimbus” means a luminous cloud: the glow that surrounds what is precious, the rain-laden cloud that holds water before it returns to the earth. In the water cycle, it is the most ethereal moment—the moment when matter becomes sky.

Created for the home of Chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo and Cinzia Primatesta, the Nimbus lamp from Désian’s LAQUA collection interprets this lightness with an almost organic gesture. From a soft, flared base, extremely slender stems shoot upward—each at a different height—bending at the top like reeds swaying in the wind. Hanging from each stem is a white shade, wrapped around itself like a rolled-up sheet of paper, ready to release the light.

At its base, a luminous sphere encircled by a wreath of curved lines evokes the heart of the collection: a compact drop from which everything seems to take shape.

When turned on, Nimbus doesn’t illuminate a specific spot— it casts a soft glow all around.

The light spreads through the space like a cloud filtering the sun—soft and diffused—capable of transforming a corner of the house into a cozy spot. It is the light of leisurely evenings, of sharing the couch, of conversations that continue as darkness falls outside.

Nimbus is more than just a lamp: it’s a cloud of light that fills the home, a luminous sculpture that protects and welcomes. An icon destined to stand the test of time.
